Christmas? Not already, we hear you cry! But bear with us, here’s a fantastic early local Christmas Fair for a couple of great causes.

On Tuesday 15 October from 9.30am to 4pm, wonderful Charlbury resident Sue will be opening up her beautiful Oxfordshire home to welcome you to browse an array of unique and unusual stalls, from handmade Italian leather belts to bridge in a box, silver and rose gold jewellery to bamboo socks, scarves and watches, coffee and artisan bread to luxury woollen cosy-ups… and much more besides.

All proceeds will go towards the work of ROSY and Oxfordshire based SpecialEffect, a charity and longstanding friend of ROSY that enable severely disabled people to use technology in any way they can, with whichever parts of their body that work best. Adapting technology to individual needs, empowering individuals to join in with family & friends, to be included & not left out – often for the very first time. They achieve things they never thought possible.

They also specialise in Eye Control Technology. Imagine: You’re paralysed & can’t move anything except your eyes. You can’t speak. Through eye-movement alone, SpecialEffect enable people to communicate again & regain a little independence, giving them a voice when they don’t have one of their own.

Based in Oxfordshire, they support people right across the UK, to play games, communicate, get creative & enjoy some much needed fun, escapism & a greatly improved quality of life. Tom, a young man they helped, wrote simply: ‘Thank you for giving me my life back.’

It’s £5 entry, and we’d love to see you at Long Meadow, Church Street, Charlbury, OX7 3PP (right next door to The Bell).
