BEA’S THE STAR OF THE SHOW.
BEA’S THE STAR OF THE SHOW.
Inspirational stories, amazing talent and unimaginable dedication and determination were all celebrated at the third annual Oxfordshire Youth Awards.
300 Young people and their proud families and friends gathered at the Town Hall in Oxford on Thursday 20th January to acknowledge those who had been chosen to receive awards, as judged by a panel of Young People. The panel had described their task as “almost impossible”
Beatrice Carr is one of our precious children and along with her parents Joanna and Paul, are an important part of the ROSY “clan” Beatrice, who is now 14, received severe physical disabilities as a result of an asthmatic attack some four years ago and is paralysed from the neck down. She has undergone many operations and we thought we had lost her on more than one occasion. She is a brave little girl and a fighter.
Bea was nominated for an award for “Individual Bravery” by her guide leader. Despite all her problems she still goes to school and attends the Guides and clearly she has touched the hearts of all those she meets.
Her incredible spirit and determination is a shining example to all of us and she truly merited the Individual Bravery Award. She enjoyed a standing ovation as she was carried onto the stage in her wheelchair. Bea’s Mum said her daughter was incredibly proud to be part of the evening and to have won the award.
Well done Bea, and Mum and Dad. You are all stars.
